Effective January 1, 2001, the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) has established essential new guidelines for all healthcare facilities. Specifically, the new standards require a practical management plan for Facility Managers and Infection Control Practitioners that describes how a facility can "establish and maintain a utility systems management program to reduce the potential for organizational-acquired illness."

Even if you are not accredited by JCAHO your facility needs a viable Legionella control plan in place. According to OSHA, "any water system can be a source of disease if the water in it is subjected to conditions that promote growth of the organism." Compliance with JCAHO standards, which could significantly reduce your risk, should be a top priority for all healthcare facilities.

Includes...

  • new JCAHO standards and management plan
  • existing standards set forth by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention)
